Quotas - For
Homosexuals?
Just when I thought political
correctness had peaked here comes word that there will be a "gay quota" at the
Democratic National Convention in Boston this July. Democrat parties in at least
15 states have set numerical "goals" for the number of homosexuals that must be
in their state delegations. California, for example, has set the "goal" of 22
homosexual men and 22 lesbians in their 440-member delegation. Maine Democrats
want to be sure at least 3 of their 35 delegates are homosexuals, but being
broadminded they are willing to accept bisexuals and transgendered delegates as
substitutes. No word on why transvestites are being left out!
Seriously
folks, can it get anymore absurd? We are in the middle of a war for the survival
of Western Civilization and one of our major political parties is using the
bedroom habits of its members as criteria to qualify as a delegate at their
presidential nominating convention!
Hero of the Day
Here's what conservative Democrat
Zell Miller had to say about the events of this week:
"Those who are wringing their hands and shouting so loudly
for 'heads to roll' over [the abuse] seem to have conveniently overlooked the
fact that someone's head has rolled - that of another innocent American
brutally murdered by terrorists. Why is it that there's more
indignation over a photo of a prisoner with underwear on his head than over the
video of a young American with no head at
all?"
Thank you, Senator Miller,
for speaking the truth!
The Real America
Columnist Daniel Henninger has a fantastic column in this
morning's Wall Street Journal that serves as a reminder of who we are. I'll try
to sum it up for you:
In 1995 Saddam Hussein had arrested nine Iraqi businessmen and
used them as scapegoats for economic problems in the country. They were found
guilty after 30-minute trials in Hussein's "Kangaroo Courts." Their punishment
was one year in jail followed by the surgical amputation of their right hands at
Abu Ghraib prison! Cutting off heads and hands is apparently a big recurring
theme in the Middle East! The
amputations took place and, on Hussein's insistence, were
videotaped.
After we overthrew
Hussein, a U.S. television producer, Don North, heard about the story and
tracked down seven of the men. A doctor in Texas heard North's reports and
offered to "fix" the men. Through countless donations and other acts of kindness
the Iraqis were given corrective surgery and were supplied with top of the line
prosthetic hands.
This is an incredible story of American kindness and
mercy. But it is no different than the countless acts of humanitarian compassion
being performed every day in Iraq by our sons and daughters, while they are
under deadly fire from a ruthless enemy there and under verbal fire from carping
critics here. These soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines represent the real
America - they are the norm, not the exception. Thank God we still produce such
heroes!
